In addition to buildings designed by Neutra and by Lautner, we visited numerous other sites of architectural or historical significance. Photographs of these sites are presented in this album.

This new home, being built on the location of a home destroyed in the Pacific Palisades fire of January 2025, is being constructed with prefabricated steel framing.

The foreman for the project described the process of building with prefab steel framing.

Chris Carr (facing camera) described his plans for a new home on the property where the home in which he grew up was destroyed by the Pacific Palisades fire.

Chris, a principal with Wiehle-Carr architecture, has contracted with Plant Prefab for the construction of his new home.

Chris' lot sits on the ridge above one of the canyons in Pacific Palisades, near Santa Monica.

Ray Kappe Home & Studio - designed by Ray Kappe (1965). The massive concrete structures on the left and right are two of six that establish the foundation for the Kappe House. These supports permit a small stream to flow under the house, enabling the construction of this house on a lot previously considered unbuildable.

Wiehle-Carr/Walker Residence (1948), remodeled by Wiehle-Carr Architects (2008)

Models used in the 2008 remodel of the Wiehle-Carr/Walker Residence (1948). The upper building represents the original living quarters of the estate owners. It is now a separate property. The lower structure is the remodelled servants' quarters and garage. It is now the home and studio of Joe Walker.

Homeowner Joe Walker (back center), who won the Oscar for Best Film Editing for Dune I at the 94th Academy Awards, welcomed us into his home and studio for the tour. He and Chris became friends during the remodelling process.

Ennis House - Frank Lloyd Wright (1924) - We were not able to tour the Ennis House. These photos were captured from the back deck of the Storybook House.

Ennis House - Frank Lloyd Wright (1924) - The concrete cladding tiles with a slightly different color are newly installed. The original cladding in that location fell off and were damaged in an earthquake.
