• Westhope, also known as the Richard Lloyd Jones House, is a Frank Lloyd Wright designed Textile Block home that was constructed in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1929. Richard Lloyd Jones was Wright's cousin and the publisher of the Tulsa Tribune.

• We stopped for a brief view of Westhope from the street on our way into downtown Tulsa.

• Tulsa Skyline ca. 1931. Oil was discovered in the Tulsa area in the early 1900s. The people of Tulsa invested oil money in building Art Deco skyscrapers that rivaled those in major cities.

• Downtown Tulsa lost many of its Art Deco buildings to redevelopment in the 1970s. The BOK Tower was built in 1976 and designed by Minoru Yamasaki & Associates, the same architect who designed the World Trade Center in New York City.

• The historic Atlas Life Building, in the midst of the 30-block Deco District, is now the Courtyard by Marriott Tulsa Downtown, where we stayed.

• The 320 South Boston Building. The 10-story wing on the right was completed in 1917 and was the home of Exchange National Bank. In 1929 the bank was expanded by adding the 10-story wing on the left and a 22-story central tower.

• The 20-story Mid-Continent Tower (1984) is cantilevered over the original 16-story Cosden Building (Henry F. Hoit, Architect - 1918, restored 1980).

• The Cosden Building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

• The Philtower Building, Edward Buehler Delk, Architect - 1928. The Gothic Revival building was financed by oil man Waite Philips. In 1941 Phillips deeded Philtower and Philmont Ranch to the Boy Scouts of America. The Tower is now home to luxury condominiums.

• The Philcade Building, designed by Leon B. Senter for oilman Waite Phillips, was begun in 1929 and completed in 1931. It is noted for its Art Deco zigzag style architecture. The building was listed in the National Register on September 18, 1986.

• Originally the Gillette-Tyrrell Building, 1929, this building was planned to be topped by a 10-story hotel. Construction was stopped at the 3rd floor because of the Great Depression, and the building was sold to the Knights of Pythias. It is a mixture of Zig Zag and Modern Art Deco styles.

• This plaque marks the location, in the central business district, of the third building that served as the Boston Avenue United Methodist Church. The fourth and current building, a beautiful Art Deco design, is located just south of the central business district.

• The Price Tower, Frank Lloyd Wright, Architect - 1956. The Tower is located in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

• Price Tower is Wright's only realized skyscraper. It is 17-stories high.

• On our tour of the Price Tower, we visited a restored example of an apartment as it would have appeared in the original Price Tower.

• H. C. Price's office on the top (17th) floor of the Tower. Price developed a process for welding oil pipelines that quickly became the standard of the industry and led to great success for the company.

• The elevators, while state-of-the-art in 1956, were very small and slow by today's standards.

• Wesley Peters was an apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright, and was also Wright's son-in-law. The Center is a large, magnificent, performance arts center. It has striking similarities to Wright's Grady Gammage Auditorium on the campus of Arizona State University in Scottsdale, Arizona.
