• This 6th or 7th century stone ringfort was the seat of the Kingdom of Aileach. The wall is about 4.5 metres (15 ft) thick and 5 metres (16 ft) high. It has three terraces, which are linked by steps, and two long passages within the walls. Originally, there were buildings inside the ringfort. Most of the ringfort was destroyed in the 12th century. Restoration occurred in 1870.

• We drove past Knocknarea, a large hill (327 m (1,073 ft) high) west of the town of Sligo town in County Sligo. The cairn or passage tomb at the top (about 55 m (180 ft) wide and 10 m (33 ft) high) is the largest such cairn in Ireland outside the Valley of the Boyne. It is known in Ireland as Maeve's Tomb. • After bathing, we removed the seaweed, drained the tub, and used this shower to rinse off. The shower uses cold seawater. Brrrr!
