Upon leaving Les Baux, we drove to the village of Saint-Rémy. It was on 8 May 1889 that van Gogh voluntarily entered the asylum of St. Paul near Saint-Rémy. Saint-Paul, an Augustine monastery established in the 12th century, was converted to an asylum in the 19th century.
