• For our anniversary we dined at The Terrace in the Charlotte Inn.

• We returned to Oak Bluffs to a concert by the Vineyard Haven Band.

• The Methodist Church founded the Camp Meeting Association at Oak Bluffs.

• The Tabernacle is a steel structure.

• Curtains can be used to enclose the structure when desired, for example for a concert when admission is charged.

• The Methodist Church was built one year before the Tabernacle.

• The 'tents' had wood frames and were covered with canvas.

• Over a period of many years people purchased the 'tents', taking long-term leases on the property, and built wooden cottages on the tents' wooden frames.

• This museum is an example of how these cottages would have been furnished and used early is this conversion from tents.

• Many of the homes are today owned by later generations of the original families.

• Most of the homes have been modernized, and most of the homes have been dramatically improved on the exterior to include the 'painted lady' characteristics of the large homes near downtown Oak Bluffs.

• Japanese lanterns were first imported during the seafaring days of the 19th century. They are common decorations today.

• The docent at the museum said that the colorful painting of the exteriors started out in a small way, then neighbors, not be outdone, followed suit.
