Seattle Sites
July 22-23, 2008
Here are some of the photos from our July 2008 trip to Seattle, Washington. In addition to the Mariners games and the Olympic Sculpture Park, (see separate albums for those photos), we went to an Impressionist exhibit at the Seattle Art Museum and toured the new Seattle Public Library. Here are some photos of the library and the Seattle City Hall. The library was of particular interest to us not only because it is a Rem Koolhaus design, but because the Director of the library for the past approximately ten years was Deborah Jacobs, who was the Director of the Corvallis Public Library when we first moved to Corvallis. She spearheaded the expansion of the Corvallis library and, after moving to Seattle, spearheaded the planning, funding, etc., for this ~$200 M project. The library was built between 2001 and 2004. She left her position at the Seattle Public Library just after our visit to become the Deputy Director, Global Libraries, for the Gates Foundation.
